In order to provide service and shelter to
the poor, the neglected and the helpless people in Nepal, the
Centre of Services for Helpless was established in Kathmandu
in 1991 by a few social workers in the country.
The Centre, which is a non-governmental organization,
is registered with His Majesty’s Government of Nepal at
the Kathmandu District Administration Office (registration number:
430/047/048), and with the Social Welfare Council (registration
number: 512).
It is located in its self-owned land in Shantinagar,
Kathmandu, on the banks of the Bagmati River. The infrastructures
at present within that premises are: a three-story Home for
the senior citizen; a Laxmi Narayan temple, house for the mourner,
the Kriyaputri, a hall for religious sermons, and a kitchen.
At the time of the establishment of the Home, an endowment fund
was also created with the funds received from its founding members
and other donors. The interests received from the endowment
have been used to run the various programs of the Home.
The Centre of Services for Helpless has provisions
for four types of membership:
1. Founder member
2. Patron, to those donating Rs. 50,000.00 and above
3. Life member, to those donating Rs. 5001.00
4. General Member, to those donating Rs. 1001.00
As of July 15, 2005, the total numbers of Members
are 337. Of which, the names of 13 founder members are as follows:
